THL INSIGHT FOR IMPACT

CHAMPION HER VOICE AT EVERY LEVEL OF THE GAME TO INFORM AND DRIVE INCLUSIVITY ACROSS THE CRICKET LANDSCAPE

Insight for Impact

In 2023 we listened to the voices of over 1000 girls involved in cricket.

Many questioned whether they belong in the game.

We're changing that.

The Ethnic Profile of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Girls’ Talent Pathways and Women’s Super League - Hina Shafi

Hina's research found South Asian players are overrepresented at youth level (11.67%) whereas they are underrepresented at senior level (3.3%). South Asians are three times more underrepresented in professional level. Moreover, Black British players are underrepresented across the entire pathway. The girls’ pathway shows a steady decline in ethnic diversity as it progresses, indicating a need to focus on transition points during the pathway.
